A while ago I wrote about Hamster Kombat—the tap-to-earn Telegram app. Now, when I first saw people claiming that they’d get rich from the airdrop, I had to chuckle. Let’s be real here: no one’s becoming a crypto millionaire from a free app like this. Sure, it’s fun, but you have to keep your expectations in check.

I gave it a shot, hoping to make a few easy bucks. That’s what these things are usually about—quick wins, not life-changing amounts. A lot of folks tend to forget that. It’s the same reason why I hardly ever get involved in FREE play-to-earn games. Generally I know if I pay a decent amount to participate there is a higher chance of earning sweeter rewards.
Just a bit of a disclaimer; I did get into Hamster Kombat quite late compared to others. The other tap-to-earn platforms I have joined a lot closer to launch.

So I did the tapping each day, pretty consistently. It didn’t consume me, I literally spent about two minutes twice a day collecting daily rewards etc. At the same time I collected my rewards for Monkey, SEED and Iceberg which all have airdrops coming up.
On the day of the airdrop I received a total of 42.9 $HMSTR tokens. Deducted from that was 5.04 tokens for vesting which left me with 37.86 tokens. On that day $HMSTR was worth about $0.0064. So that was a total of $0.25. Yip, a full 25 cents. Lol. On top of that, the gas fee was 23c to transfer the tokens, so I didn’t even bother.
That’s the reality with these types of games—you’re not in it to get rich but to have some fun while earning a little extra. For me, Hamster Kombat was more of a casual way to dabble without expecting much, and that’s exactly what I got. That being said I have stayed in Hamster Kombat for the second iteration and am farming the diamonds. Again, it’s two minutes of my day and nothing else to lose.
If you’re in it for the thrill of maybe making a few bucks, Hamster Kombat might just be your jam. But remember, temper those expectations!
